Our Story

Nouvelle Habit began as a very personal journey. After a serious accident with my horse forced me to stop teaching and training, I had to find a new direction. While working as an upholsterer, a friend asked if I could create a waterproof riding skirt-something functional yet stylish. I’d never made clothes before, but I was intrigued. Inspired by the history of the riding habit, I took a short pattern-cutting course and started designing. Thirteen prototypes later, I had created the perfect Habit-something I wanted to wear myself, combining practicality, warmth, and elegance.

Initially, I designed for myself, testing my creations in the saddle for over a year. But when the pandemic hit and I lost my job, I took a leap of faith and launched Nouvelle Habit. My goal was simple: to bring a modern twist to a timeless design, offering handcrafted, bespoke countrywear that solves real problems while looking effortlessly stylish.

Nouvelle Habit is about more than clothing; it’s about honouring tradition while embracing modern life. I create versatile, garments designed for the countryside, combining heritage inspired style with the durability and functionality needed for outdoor living.

Every Habit is handmade with care, promoting slow fashion, sustainability, and quality craftsmanship. My mission is to help people feel confident, comfortable, and connected to the countryside through clothing that lasts a lifetime.

I know how hard it is to find countrywear that’s both functional and beautiful. That’s why I design Habits that are fully waterproof, windproof, and versatile-whether you’re riding, walking, or working outdoors.

Thoughtful details like anti-static linings, magnets to prevent wind flapping, and premium materials ensure every Habit is practical and comfortable. I also offer bespoke options, so my customers get exactly what they need. Most importantly, I’m here to champion slow fashion. By crafting durable, handmade garments, I help my customers move away from mass-produced, throwaway clothing and make sustainable, meaningful choices.
